Students in 102 spent one whole month immersed in hands-on learning with baby chicks. As a class, we were able to observe chicken eggs develop in an incubator for about twenty days, watch baby chicks hatch from the eggs, and take care of them as they grew rapidly. Throughout our time with the chicks, students were also able to receive fascinating lessons from our chicken expert, Chuck. He showed us how to perform a candle lighting procedure to see how the chicks were developing in the egg, and he also broke open a normal egg to explain the parts that help the chick grow. This experience was not only extremely fun and engaging for our class, but it was also rewarding to see our hard work pay off to help seven little chicks grow up healthy!
